What documents are required for the Deerfield Academy application?

Deerfield Academy only serves grades 9-12. Admissions can be categorized as Lower Grades (Middle School Applicants Seeking 9th-grade Entry) and Upper Grades (10th-12th-grade Entry).

Lower Grades

For 9th grade:

  • Candidate Profile (Application Form) – Through Gateway to Prep Schools
  • School Transcripts – Past 2-3 years of academic records (typically 6th, 7th, and 8th grade)
  • Teacher Recommendations:
    • English Teacher
    • Math Teacher
    • School Counselor or Principal
  • Personal Essays & Short Answer Responses
  • Extracurricular Activities List
  • Interview (Required)
  • Standardized Testing (Optional but Encouraged):
    • SSAT or ISEE (Recommended for 9th-grade applicants)
    • TOEFL (Required for non-native English speakers)

Upper Grades

For 10th Grade:

  • Same requirements as 9th grade
  •  Strong academic record required (8th and 9th-grade transcripts)
  •  Standardized Testing (Optional but Recommended)
    • SSAT/ISEE or PSAT scores may be submitted

For 11th Grade:

  • Same requirements as 10th grade
  • Strong reasons for transferring must be demonstrated
  • Standardized Testing (Optional but Recommended)
  • PSAT, SAT, or ACT may be submitted instead of SSAT/ISEE

For 12th Grade:

  • Same as 11th-grade applicants
  • Most applicants at this level must show exceptional academic or extracurricular achievements

Application Deadlines (All Grades)

  • Application Submission: January 15
  •  Interview Completion: Before January 15
  •  Decision Notification: March 10
