Sugar Bowl Academy is an independent, college preparatory, ski academy that encourages its students to experience life and the outdoors beyond Donner Summit in the Sierra Nevada. The school aims to provide passionate skiers the chance to hone their talent, excel academically, pursue other interests, and achieve personal growth. The residential life allows students to practice independence, respect, and trust, as well as fosters personal responsibility and healthy relationships. Students can join activities such as Trivia Nights, cookie decorating, Master Chef cooking competitions, and soccer matches. They also have the opportunity to swim at the lake, camp, and battle each other at paintball or go-kart racing. The school offers XED or Experiential Education Adventures where students learn hands-on in community service and co-curricular activities. In addition, learning takes place with cutting-edge technology partnered with a rigorous academic program. Student-athletes receive training daily at Royal Gorge Cross-Country Resort, with access to the Auburn Ski Club Training Center, Tahoe Donner XC, and other low-altitude training sites.
